“By the phaneron I mean the collective total of all that is in any way or in any sense present to the mind, quite regardless of whether it corresponds to any real thing or not.” (Charles Sanders Peirce)

Phaneronaut is the solo project of Udo Gerhards (he/him), a musician from Munich, Germany. Phaneronaut is located on the edge of electronic music, progressive rock and everything else Udo likes and finds musically interesting, from analog synthesizers to orchestral arrangements and anything in between.
Udo has been playing music for more than 40 years and composing for nearly as long. He has been the member of a few bands as well, notably the progressive rock band Scythe (1998-2001, with Thomas Thielen aka t), the jam-rock band Trigon (2004-2005) and the improvisational Krautrock project Peter Frohmader’s Nekropolis (2002-2022), see discogs.com. Since Peter Frohmader’s death in 2022, he has been playing with some Ex-Nekropolis musicians under the name Nekropolis ’22, and he’s also the keyboard player for a fun funk/jazzrock four-piece called fuTunes.
